About Pinot Post

Pinot noir

Pinot noir is a red wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera. The name is derived from the French words for pine and black; the pine alluding to the grape variety having tightly clustered, pine cone-shaped bunches of fruit. The wine produced from the noble pinot noir is the most seductive and sensual of all the grape varieties in the world.

My Blog – Pinot Post – is all about pinot noir.  I have developed a passion for pinot noir after being first introduced to burgundy while living in France in 1990. Seven years later I established my own vineyard and made pinot noir for over 10 vintages before retiring. Wishing to use the knowledge I had accumulated over this period and continue my involvement, I started this blog.  My goal is to provide an in-depth forum on all aspects of pinot noir around the globe and to discover good and hopefully some great examples to share with you. I would be pleased to review any samples submitted and provide a balanced assessment of each samples. The best of these reviews will appear in this blog. I am based in Melbourne, Australia so my blog will, by default, have a south hemisphere bias but I still hope to encompass the whole world of pinot noir.
